I read Tolstoy once

but now it's Nabokov.

"Somebody told me later that she had been in love with my father, and that he had lightheartedly taken advantage of it one rainy day and forgotten it by the time the weather cleared."

Tell me, how much do you love that line?

yeah. for me that was cleveland. where it rained for three years. but it wasn't young women who loved me. it was marshmallows! i took advantage of marshmallows. cause it's all there was. and hot dogs. and blockbusters. and drew carey. they took me in. they loved me then. but i'd just as soon forget.

what if it was SHE who took advantage of loving him
at least she got ONE rainy morning (or afternoon, or whenever)
and by the time the weather cleared, well, la donna è mobile too
